Móz History

For nearly 20 years, Móz Designs has been providing the Architectural and Design community with innovative architectural products and high-end custom fabricated services. Founded in Oakland, California, Moz Designs began manufacturing metal furniture and fixtures for commercial and residential interiors. Brothers and company founders Murray and Tripp Sandford started building stand alone furniture in Murray's garage. Incidentally, “Móz” was Murray’s childhood nickname.

1989

Founded in Oakland California, the company began manufacturing metal furniture and fixtures for both commercial and residential interiors.

1991

After several years and countless hours of creative metalwork and specifiers always inquiring about different finishes, Móz Designs pioneered the development of pattern-etched metal surfaces and became a leader in the Decorative Metals industry with the introduction of Móz Metals.

1995

In the nineties Móz experienced explosive growth, riding the .com wave in the Bay Area. Ernie Ngo, now General Manager, was Móz's first employee. Drawing on the company's metal fabrication background, Móz forged on with these surface materials by integrating them into complete turnkey architectural end products. Collaborating with some of the industry's foremost architectural firms and general contractors, Móz shaped innovative environments for high-profile commercial, hospitality, retail, entertainment and institutional settings.

2000

In 2000 Móz continued with it's entrepreneurial spirit and began creating standard product lines for Column Covers and Wall Panels. Another company expansion followed in 2004 with a new 30,000 SF manufacturing facility located near the Oakland Coliseum.

2007

Today, Móz Designs is a versatile resource for any custom Design/Build Project - we provide Surfaces, Systems and Solutions for our clients by providing concept development, custom designs, detailed drawings, budget prices and installation drawings.

Looking into the Future

From a project's earliest stages, our Team combines design/engineering and strong project management with creative fabrication techniques and expertise to build high-impact projects with design integrity and aesthetic flare. One of our primary goals is to simplify the process for architects, designers, and contractors by delivering support, knowledge, and coordination throughout the entire design/build cycle - from conception to installation.
